Jean-Luc and me visited the announced exhibition Faszination Spinne ( http://musmn.de/ausstellung/sonderspinnen/start.htm ) at the Mensch und Natur Museum ( http://www.musmn.de/start.htm ) here in Munich. First of all, let me say that the spines, the scorpions and the millipedes are non-aggressive, peaceful creatures, moving slowly, thus it is not the case to be afraid of them. The exhibition permits to discovers interesting adaptations (eyes, legs, skin) of these creatures for surviving and proliferate in their environments. But very surprising are the various colour compositions that the bodies of the spines exhibite, which can hardly be considered as an adaptation to the environment, but rather as secondary sexual characters for generating sexual appeal (see the following images).
