Dear Friends
having time, last Sunday, I visited the exhibition: GDT Europäischer Naturfotograf des Jahres 2013: http://www.musmn.de/ausstellung/gdt.htm
at the Museum Mensh und Natur: http://www.musmn.de/start.htm , here in Munich.
In looking to the spectacular images attached we should not forget that each one of the images presented at the exhibition is the result of a long, deep and patient effort by a photographer to catch natural landscapes and unperturbed living beings in unique lighting and behavioural conditions normally using advanced technics of macro-, micro-, long exposure- and high speed photography. But we should also not forget that non-judicious use of said techniques could lead to questionable results as shown by the last image attached. In any case I invite you to visit the exhibition.

Bilder im Dunkeln
Dear friends
the visit I made in the past of the part accessible to the public of the legendary caves of Lascaux in the Perigord (FR) pushed me to the visit the exhibition Bilder im Dunkeln - Holenkunst der Eiszeit:
http://www.archaeologie-bayern.de/de/ausstellungen/sonderausstellungen
at the Archaeology Museum here in Munich.
The exhibition, located in the darkened hall of the Museum, is perfused by sounds of dripping water and can be visited only by means of torches provided at the entrance. It put together pictures of parietal art of the last Ice Age, present in the caves of Lascaux (FR): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascaux, Niaux (FR): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_Niaux , and Altamira (ES): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_Altamira.
In looking to the pictures it is possible to grasp a trend from simple non colored graffiti to more detailed, rich in colours pictures of ancient animals now extinct or disappeared from Europe. The specific purpose, if any, of this parietal art is unknown, but I think that it is the religious-shamanic desire of remanding the inhabitants of the cave/s of the magical environment that ensured their survival.
Any comment from your side is welcomed.

Gargoyles at St. Paul in Munich
Dear Friends
it was by chance some days ago that I remarked that the sumptuous Gothic church of Saint Paul, four step away from my place of work, here in Munich, hosts a magnificent collection of gargoyles. With respect to other collections already presented on this blog, this last is characterised by an accentuated presence of human representations. Please, have a look to the images and tell me your opinion.

Flood in Landerneau - 2
Dear Friend
because of a higher high tide with respet to the morning, the river Élorn overflowed again in the evening of the first day of the 2014. What I remarked this time was that the people were not particularly afraid, but, rather, happy of laughing and joking among friends and relatives. This because, as my father in law explained me, overflows in Landerneau are slightly frequent and quiet. Other story with respect to the last deluge in Austria and Munich of June of this year:
http://m-polo.blogspot.de/2013/06/deluge-in-austria-and-munich.html
and the cyclone Bejisa at the French island of La Reunion same days after:

Flood in Landerneau - 1
Dear Friends
as you know the end of the year 2013 was marked by the arrival on the Brittany (FR) of the cyclone Dirk: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclone_Dirk , which with its rains and its winds up to 130 Km/h caused severe damages in Morlaix:
http://www.francetvinfo.fr/meteo/tempete/tempete-dirk/video-la-ville-de-morlaix-en-bretagne-a-les-pieds-dans-l-eau_490196.html
and Quimperlé: http://www.francetvinfo.fr/meteo/tempete/tempete-dirk/video-des-villes-bretonnes-sinistrees-par-la-tempete-dirk-valls-parle-d-erreur-d-appreciation_491542.html .
Dirk did not touched severely Landerneau, where I was for the Christmas holidays, however the first day of the 2014, on the morning, the combination of the rains, strong winds and high tide cause the overlow of the river Élorn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89lorn and the invasion of the centre of the town by the water as you can see from the ollowing images. Luckily, despite to the relevant damages to properties, nobody was hurt.
