Dear Friends
the theme of the industrial archaeology have been little dealt with on our blog. However, it is not a mystery that, at the end of the WW II, a consistent portion of the industrial and war production in Northern Italy was accomplished by factories installed in tunnel or caves around the lake of Garda ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Garda ) in order to escape air bombing. Three of these factories, according to my information, code names: Avesa I, Avesa Ii and Avesa III, were located in caves near Avesa a village not far from Verona:
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avesa , http://www.loribnb.it/englori.htm .
The interest for this historical subject brought me to visit the enchanting site of Avesa, but my information only permitted me to arrive to caves (see images) which, apparently, never hosted factories. However, the hunting for Avesa I, Avesa II and Avesa III continue.
Salutations
Giancarlo
