on Sunday 18/05/2014, Jean-Luc and me, we visited the advertised exhibition Tête à Tête mit der modernen Kunst at the Staatlisches Museum Ägyptisches Kunst (www.smaek.de) here in Munich. I was pleasantly surprised in noting that that the Smaek is less static than I thought. In fact, apart from Tête à Tête, it evolved by presenting to the public an expanded Coptic section (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coptic_art). The newly presented Coptic portraits, clearly anticipating those of the icons, although mainly funerary, are sometime immersed in a lively, lush Nilotic landscape, which, in my opinion, successfully contribute to consider the person still living and close to the family and friends.
