Fashing in München

Dear Friends
Fashing, the Munich's Carnival, approaches as the fracas of its Opening Parade in a central road reminded me today (see the images). Marching groups coming from neighboring municipalities, coloured by their traditional and modern costumes bring it surprisingly closer to the Sfilada del Venare Gnokolar of the Bakanal del Gnoko of Verona. The first lacks a charismatic figure like Papá del Gnoco of the second, although a corresponding, mythical figure like that of the Little Monk exists in the Munich's tradition. Comments from your side are welcome.

Linea Meridiana - Bologna

Dear Friends
it is well worth to visit the San Petronio Basilica in Bologna as crucible of architectural and artistic treasures. But I was motivated to the visit also because of its Cassini's high precision Linea Meridiana, the largest of this kind worldwide. Weather permitting, it indicates the Solar noon during all the year and the entrance of the Sun in the different Zodiacal signs (see also in this blog: Linea meridiana slab Milan). Unfortunately, as often happens, the weather was bad and I have not had the possibility to immortalize the Solar noon the day of the visit. How the line was traced and how the limits of the Zodiacal signs were determined remains for the moment, at least for me, a mistery, but I have time to investigate. Information from your side is welcomed.

Cisalpine Gaul

Dear Friends
all of you and me too, we were aware of the presence in the Cisalpine Gaul (North Italy) before Julius Caesar of Gallic Tribes and that Rome too on 390 b.C. was conquered and sackaged by the Brennus' Senones , but the location of their settlements was, at least for me, nebulous and uncertain. Therefore, I welcome the map of the Cisalpine Gaul I seen at the Museo Civico Archeologico in Bologna, which made clarity about them. As shown by the map, Verona never was Venetic or Etruscan (also because no Venetic or Etruscan necropolis up to now was discovered) but a Cenomani's city and Bologna the Boii's (Бойцы = warriors ??) capital. These Gallic Tribes coupled exterior fearsome warrior capabilities and intimate sofisticated cultures (see the images).

Situle

Dear Friends
I am passionated by the singular and strange Situle phenomenon; in essence bronze vassels from a domain extending (I believed) from Veneto to Slaovenia having distinctive, common features like their VII -VI cen b.C., their bronze component, their truncated cone shape and their toric life scenes bands, which reveal a common (Venetic ??) substrate of the different cultures that produced them. The mosaic of the phenomenon I tried to build, comprising the Vace Situla and the other of the Situla Festival at the Narodni Muzej Slovenje in Ljubljana, the Benvenuti Situla at the Museo Nazionale Atestino in Este (Veneto - IT), is now completed with the Situle Arnoaldi and the Situla della Certosa at the Archeological Civic Museum in  Bologna which provide further information about the extension of said domain. Comments from your side are welcomed.
