Dear friends,
After sunset I visited the Diocletian palace again, trying to get away from the souvenir stalls but trying to imagine the life in Split at the time of the Roman empire when Diocletian built the palace for his retirement.

Split is a city by the shore so its great harbour would have been visited by many ships from across the Adriatic Sea (Italy's Puglia region)
There are many narrow roads which wind through the large building - however one aspect which I do not like is that planning regulations allowed the construction of residences *inside* the palace itself. This is a practice which surely should be stopped.
Best regards,
Alexei
