the Tannery Sidi Moussa or Chouara in Fez is a phenomenon, at least for me, difficult to understand. If the pupose to attarct visitors in view to sell its products is clear, its purpose to offer employment is less clear. The work there is surely payed, probably well payed, but the harmful tanning substances employed often at direct contact with the skin and the incumbent, poisonous atmosphere, certainly known by the administrative authorities, rend the Tannery one of the worst and uncomfortable work place in the world.
