Dear Friends
it is always a pleasure to discuss with our Gianni aspects of the palaeonthology of carnivores. In particular, the mind is glad to jump in a remote past when looking to the specimens of his collection (see in this blog: Miniopterus, Rhinolophus, Anphicionid, Homotherium). His Hoplophoneus sp. superb skull complete with the terrifying teeth and the Atlas vertebra (see the images) recalls the messy times of the Late Eocene characterised by the Oligocene extinction event and the Grande Coupure in which, because of meteoritic impacts, volcanic eruptions and mass extinctions, were not easy to live. The Hoplophoneus sp. skull in the images is on sale. In case of interest please let me know or contact directly our Gianni.
Salutations
Giancarlo
