Dear Friends
Bright Field Illumination (see the first three images and forget the annoying Moiré pattern) is the implicitly, normally and largely accepted observing technics in microscopy. On the contrary, Dark Field Microscopy is a better one, but requires sophisticated and expensive micro-optics or in alternative a good manual desterity, exceeding my own one, for modifying the bright field micro-optics installed on every microscope. Therefore, I was astonished in reading that Dark Field Illumination can be achieved simply by an intense light source and a flat, dark surface under the specimen. No sooner said than done! Hurray ! Dark Field Illumination is very easy (see the setup images) and easily provide prodigious mages (see the last images).
