Forschungszentrum Garching - Tag der offene Tür

Dear Friends
last Saturday, I visit of some of the Instituts of the Forschungszentrum (Research Centre) of Garching near Munich. The visit was interesting and let me say that the innovation and the technologycal progress should not be seen as something separated from Ethnology, the main centre of interest of our M-Polo Club. In fact, because they form one of the basis of the culture of the peoples. Only because of lack of time I have not had the possibility to visit all the Instituts I desired. In any case, I send you some image of the visit. Any observation from your side is welcomed.

Dürer-Cranach-Holbein

Dear Friends
I visited the exhibition Dürer-Cranach-Holbein at the Hypo Kulturstiftung here in Münich. Let me say that the exhibition is of very high quality, as usual for the exhibitions of the Hypo Kulturstiftung. Impressive are the visages, showing deep internal emotions, of the  persons: Fugger the Rich, Elsbeth Tucher, Charles de Soliers and the Venetian Girl for example, that said artists and other of the same period were able to fix on the portraits for the posterity.
Unfortunately, take images was strongly forbidden, so that I cannot send you images of the paintings. However, some portats you can see under: http://www.hypo-kunsthalle.de/newweb/edch.html
In any case, I invite you again to not miss the occasion to visit this exhibition.

Breton Statuary

Dear Friends
Brittany (FR) is not certainly renowned for his statuary. However, in visiting the Daoulas Abbey in Finistère (FR), I have had the opportunity to see that the Breton statuary, both religious and secular, is of great value as you can see from the following images. Specific of the Breton statuary is its simplicity, severity and celticity.

Back to work

Dear Friends
welcome back from holidays. In my case I was in Brittany (FR) and I made several excursions. I visited the Castles of Pignerolle (Maine et Loire) and Kerjean (Bretagne). The first one hosts the Communication Museum (Musée de la Communication) and the second one presents restored interiors hosting temporary arts exhibitions. But I think that I was luky in seen during one excursion the indication of the dolmen (allée couverte) of Ribl a very ancient and impressive construction probably used as burial site. I send you some image of said castles and dolmen.
