Palazzo Carli - Verona

Dear Friends
I have to admit that the main reason which pushed me to visit Alpini nella Storia http://www.ana.it/page/alpini-nella-storia-a-palazzo-carli-una-mostra-tra-passato-e-presente-
was not only the desire to be more informed about the Alpini, the glorious mountain troops of the Italian Army: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpini , but also to be more informed about Palazzo Carli : http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palazzo_Carli , the palace in Verona that hosts the exhibition. This palace was for many years the Headquarter of the Allied Land Forces Southern Europe (HQ Landsouth):
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comando_Forze_Terrestri_Alleate_del_Sud_Europa  therefore its interior was off-limits for visitors. The following images document both Palazzo Carli and Alpini nella Storia. Any comment from your side is welcomed.

Gordon Parks in Verona

Dear Friends
my stay in Verona was the occasion to visit Gordon Parks. Una Storia Americana at the
Centro Internazionale di Fotografia Scavi Scaligeri:
https://serviziinternet.comune.verona.it/scaviscaligeri
http://portale.comune.verona.it/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=42076
a talented writer, musician and free lance photographer. Although his images document different stories, in particular give light to the dramatic world and time of the racial segregation. I have some memory of the news arriving from the Italian radio and television about the struggles for the liberation from discrimination, segregation and poverty, but I have to say that, at that time, the background behind remained unknown.
See the images and please tell me your opinion.

Loko-Zillertal

Dear Friends
last week I left Munich for Verona (IT) for living a long weekend. The rail line cross the Alps making possible to enjoy and capture peaceful country and mountain views. Arrived at the station of Jenbach (AT):  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenbach , I feel nicely excited in seeing the ancient (1902) steam locomotive n. 3 of the Zillertalbahn:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zillertalbahn , that immediately reminded me of the emotion felt in seeing the steam locomotive of Ljubljana (see this blog:
http://m-polo.blogspot.de/2014/06/loko-ljubljana-munich.html ). Evidently, the following images cannot document my excitement, but only give you a look on locomotive of Jenbach.
Have a nice day

S wie Schlachtbilder ...

Dear Friends
after the visit of the Old Court of Munich (http://m-polo.blogspot.de/2014/06/alter-hof-kaiserburg.html ) our program brought Jean-Luc and me to the Neue Pinakothek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neue_Pinakothek) for the visit of S wie Schlachtbilder ... . Of the different themes developed by S ... Jean-Luc indicated me that of the Napoleonic epic. , This theme, actually, plays a key role in the  canvas paintings of S ... . Through it, it is possible not only to appreciate moments of preparation and triumph of the dictator but also the corresponding suffering, largely ignored by literature and paintings, of his subordinates.

Alter Hof Kaiserburg

Dear Friends
last Saturday 14/09/2014, City founding day or Stadtgründung 2014

http://www.muenchen.de/rathaus/Stadtverwaltung/Referat-fuer-Arbeit-und-Wirtschaft/Tourismusamt/Veranstaltungen/Stadtgeburtstag.html of Munich  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich , took place the announced M.Polo visit of the Old Court or Alter Hof - Kaiserburg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alter_Hof . The basement of the Old Court hosts a small but interesting exhibition presenting artefacts linked to the founding and early history of the town. But the multi-medial presentations, which Jean-Luc and me attended, widely enlarge the forcibly limited horizon of the exhibition, from those distant days to our time. I let you to enjoy the images of the exhibition and presentations.
