Nuremberg Germanisches Nationalsmuseum

Dear Friends
the worthy conclusion of my visit of Nuremberg was the Germanisches Nationalsmuseum:
http://www.gnm.de . Let me say that the museum, located in the former Kartäuserkloster, in it itself is an architectural marvel. The extensive cultural collections does not permit to visit the museum in an hour. For this reason, I decided to limit my visit to the ancient collections where I found many Neolitic, Bandceramics and Celtic artefacts. If you decide to visit the Germanisches Nationalmuseum of Nuremberg, please note that after 17:00 up to 18:00 o'clock the entrance is free of charges. The images provide you an impression of the museum and its ancient artefact collection. Any comment from your side is welcomed.

Nuremberg orgel music

Dear friends
as you know I like organ music and organs is one of the centre of interest of our M.Polo Club. But, in visiting Nuremberg, I never thought to have an Orgelpunkt just on Friday at 16:00 o'clock at the St. Lorenz church:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Lorenz_(N%C3%BCrnberg
just when I was there. At the Orgelpunkt, the second organist of the church illustrated the features of the Laurentiusorgel, appended some tents of meters from the floor, the Stephanusorgel, the smaller one, and Hauptorgel the bigger one located above the church entrance and played some music adapted to each of these organs. Let me say that the atmospheres created by the organs in the church were really paradisical. The attached images show you the different organs.

Kaiserburg Nuremberg

Dear Friends
the visit of Nuremberg cannot be considered complete without the visit of the Middle-age Kaiserburg of the town:
http://www.schloesser.bayern.de/deutsch/schloss/objekte/nbg_burg.htm .
It represent one of the most powerful and imposing fortress of the German Holy Roman Empire: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Roman_Empire .
One remarkable architectural feature of the Kaiserburg is that its wall includes portions of the original hill cliff on which it was built and to which Nuremberg owes its name (nor = rocky hill). Any comment from your side is welcomed.

Nuremberg ville fleurie

Dear Friends
in visiting the citadel of Nuremberg a further aspect caught my attention, i.e. the profusion of flowers on the facades of the houses. The colour notes provided by the flowers as well as those of leaves changing their usual green note to warmer notes, as you can see in the attached images, add beauty to an already beautiful citadel.

Sundials of Nuremberg

Dear Friends
last Friday, in occasion of my visit to the ICN (http://www.icn-groupe.fr/en) Campus Nuremberg, I have had the opportunity to visit the town. One interesting aspect of the town is the presence of many sundials. They do not present elaborated and precision designs, but rather with their beauty and simplicity they provide the public with an immediate information. Please, have a look to the images and in case of interest proide me with your feedback. I remind you that sundials is a center of interest of our M.Polo Club.

Die Krim

Dear Friends
last Sunday Jean-Luc and me made the announced M.Polo excursion to Bonn for visiting the exhibition: Die Krim - Goldene Insel im Schwarzen Meer at the LVR-Landesmuseum of Bonn. The exhibition presents a multitude of artefacts belonging to different ancient peoples: Greeks, Scythians ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scythians ) and Goths ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goths ), that come mainly from tombs and kurgans. Of particular interest the well restored East Chinese lacquer boxes coming from the Scythian necropolis of Ust'-Al'ma (http://www.chersonesos.org/?p=out_ant_ustalma&l=eng  - see also the article at: http://www.e-anthropology.com/English/Catalog/Archaeology/STM_DWL_Ir68_AnUFVjPGo6bf.aspx  - in Russian). The presence of these boxes in Crimea withnesses that the Silk Road ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road ) was an active exchange link between Europe and Asia not only in the Middle Age, at the time of Marco Polo, but also long time before. The attached images give an idea about the mix of cultures flourished in Crimea in the ancient times. In case of interest, tell us your opinion.
