Berlin - Bonus 3 - Neues Museum + Egyptian enigma

Dear Friends
arriving at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, last Sunday, we remarked the long queue of people waiting for entering. At least one hour or more would be necessary for to gain the entrance, a time not at our disposal. In looking around we seen the Neues Museum:
http://www.smb.museum/en/museums-and-institutions/neues-museum/home.html . Contrary to the suggestion in its name, the Neues Museum is not dedicated to modern or contemporary art, but rather to rich collections of artefacts of ancient civilization, especially to that of the ancient Egypt - see the images. The quality of the Egyptian collection of the Neues Museum is impressive and in particular that of the statuary. In looking to the different examples proposed by the Museum, an old enigma made surface in my mind: why the Egyptian artists, so skilled masters of any aspect of the surface and relief adhered strictly to the side view representation for people and objects on papyrus and bas-reliefs ? This enigma, notwithstanding my readings, for the moment, remains for me unsolved. Any suggestion from your side is welcome.

Berlin - Bonus 2 - Surrealism

Dear Friends
in moving from the Martin-Gropius-Bau to the Pergamon Museum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pergamon_Museum
last stop of our M.Polo excursion in Berlin, Jean-Luc indicated me the Bonus 2 represented by the Salvador Dalí Museum (http://www.visitberlin.de/en/spot/dali-the-exhibition-at-potsdamer-platz ) which permits really a journey inside the strange, and in my opinion comic, personality of Salvador Dalí: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador_Dal%C3%AD , occupied by dreams of impossible evolutions of persons and objects. Please, let me know your opinion.

Navigators ?

Dear Friends
at the opening of the Martin-Gropius-Bau, last Sunday, Jean-Luc and me, we were there, readi to dive in the world of the Vikinger. Skilled navigators ? Horrific predators ? Dreadful devastators ? Enterprising merchants ? All together, certainly. This is in my opinion the main message from the Vikinger. But another one was appreciable, as I hope clear from the images, the Vikings were not a set of isolated and aggressive tribes but rather a great people bearer of traditions, culture and knowledge. I congratulate the organizers. Any comment from your side is welcome.

Berlin - Bonus 1 - Leonardo

Dear Friends
thanks to the organisation by Jean-Luc, during the last weekend took place the announced M.Polo excursion to visit the Vikinger at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. When we arrived at the Martin-Gropius-Bau it was still closed, but, fortunately, not far from it, the first Bonus represented by Leonardo da Vinci Seine Bilder / Sein Leben / Seine Machinen was already open. It is not the repetition of Leonardo Vorbild Natur at the Deutsches Museum last year (see in this blog: http://m-polo.blogspot.de/2013/11/leonardo-vorbild-natur.html ) but rather its extension by amplifying, among other aspects, Leonardo as eminent Renaissance painter. In fact, in looking to the images, it is possible to see that other portraits, unknown to the general public, have the same quality and artistic value of the well known Mona Lisa alias La Gioconda:
