Ancient Augsburg

Dear Friends
I have to apologize for the delay that these posts of my visit to Augsburg of last year arrive to you. I will try to be more diligent in the future. The place to lern the early religious evolution of Augsburg is doubtless the area of the ancient St. Johann church near the Ausburg Dom. I like this place because it documents well the transition from the late imperial, Roman faith in Augsburg based on the cult of deities like Victoria, Sun of EmesaSol Invictus to the Christian faith. This witnesses the deep attachment of the town to the religion just from the beginning. The inscriptions on the Roman altars or arae are not always easy to understand as those in Sala Colonia and Volubilis, but the boards helps a lot.
Salutations
Giancarlo
