Great Wall & Marco Polo & Barbarians

Dear Friends
certainly I will never forget the visions of the Great Wall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Wall_of_China , its meandering aspect dictated by the orography crests on which it bases and the parts on which I walked, never equal to the precedents. Narrow portals permitted to cross the wall and narrow portals provided with a pair of opposite stairs allowed to access the top trench of the Wall. Simple watchtowers at regular distances formed by a central connecting passage with two adjacent rooms for lodging and observation complete the Wall. Here and there it is possible to enjoy long stretches of the Wall (see the images). If you ask me why Marco Polo did not mentioned the Great Wall in his Milione  (see in this blog: http://m-polo.blogspot.de/2015/09/tongli-venice-polo.html ), I can reply you simply because he crosses the Wall probably with bad weather or in a particular position one or both of them impeded him to to realise the Wall grandiosity. Preventing Barbarains the access to the fertile an rich regions of central China, the Wall redirected them toward West and lastly against Rome.
Salutations
Giancarlo
