Lucius Antonio Luciano from Volubilis (Morocco)

Dear Friends
I would like to introduce you a new M.Polo friend: Lucius Antonio Luciano. He passed away a lot of time ago, but he emerges for us from the ruins of the ancient Volubilis . His meagre and synthetic biography provides us with interesting information about his life and himself. He was governor and administrator of the Roman municipality of Volubilis and, as a thankful son, he erected a stone in memory of his very pious father. Any further deduction or information from your side concerning our Lucius Antonio Luciano is welcomed.
Salutations
Giancarlo

Spelling: L(vcivs) ANTONIO LVCIANO DECVRIONI MVNICIPII VOL(vbilis) ANN(o) XXIIII L(vcivs) ANT(onio) IANVARIVS PATER PIISSIMO FILIO POSVIT

Translation:  Lucius Antonio Luciano, Decurion* of the (Roman) Municipality of Volubilis, Lucius Antonio on January of the year 24, erected (this stone) for (in memory of) his very pious father.

* Decurion: official dealing the administration and government of a colony or municipia on behalf of the Roman central power.

I thank very much our Sylvia for the help in translating this nice Latin inscription.
