The reason, I suppose, resides in the excessive long and tiring execution and the difficult of rendering accurately the subjects intended to be presented. But, in the past, as you can see from the images coming from the Villa del Casale: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_del_Casale near Piazza Armerina (Enna): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piazza_Armerina , it represented probably the major expressive, decorative art. Many themes are developed by the mosaics in the Villa del Casale, but here, through the images, I intend to limit myself to geometrical representations, developed by the masters in the Roman period, which already in the antiquity announce the modern fractals. Any comment from your side is welcome.
